Norberto’s Guerra’s Modern Cuban Jazz Band pulls on rhythms and sounds from the most traditional Cuban music, Son, to the most contemporary one, the Timba. Guerra’s guitar and Cuban Trés form the center of a band featuring Latin percussion and horns. Norberto is a Chicago based Cuban musician, composer and producer. He is a multi-instrumentalist primarily playing the classical guitar, electric guitar and the Cuban Trés. He most recently worked closely with Alexander Abreu recording Havana d’Primenra’s tribute album of Cuban classics, Será Que Se Acabó, in Havana. He has toured throughout Cuba, composed for and played with the Ballet Español de Cuba and the Havana Symphony, and has recorded and worked on albums for Havana d’Primera, Issac Delgado, Rainer Mariño, Alain Daniel and Acituna sin Hueso. Norberto was schooled in the renowned Cuban conservatory system from the age of eight and at the Instituto Superior de las Artes (ISA) in Havana.
